How Long Is The First Trimester Of Pregnancy – Baby’s Development

September 22, 2020 by

A range of emotions and feelings will be experienced by you when you receive a positive sign on a pregnancy test; feelings include excitement, fear, joy, wonder, and uncertainty. And you start questioning yourself, “what’s next?” Before you go into the world of dreams and thoughts- planning and dreaming about nursery and gender and then the baby shower- you have to experience your first trimester which is in front of you. Now you will ask yourself, (how long is the first trimester of pregnancy?)

The initial 12 weeks of pregnancy are considered as the first stage of your pregnancy, though the way of measuring the trimesters is a bit confusing.

How Trimesters Are Measured?

The complete cycle of pregnancy is of 40 weeks, although this measurement is not the same for all. Technically, you won’t be pregnant until week 2 starts. Your pregnancy starts soon after the first day of your last period.

The ovulation process begins after 2 weeks of periods; this is the time when an egg’s fertilization takes place- followed by the embryo’s implantation. There is a total of 3 trimesters for the complete 40 weeks.

The first trimester starts from day 1 after your last period and extends up to 12 weeks. The duration of the 2nd trimester is from week 13 to week 27, while the 3rd trimester starts at week 28 and ends until birth.

What to Expect and how long is the first trimester of pregnancy?

You will feel relaxed a bit when you will get a positive result from your pregnancy test. Celebrate this news of joy with your friends, family members, and whoever you feel special to share this news with. The query that how long is the first trimester of pregnancy is solved here.

It possibly will not be long before you started observing the first signs of pregnancy, which may comprise of bloating, nausea, dizziness, exhaustion, morning sickness, and breast tenderness.

Your appearance is not like pregnant ladies as it’s the initial stage, but you will feel the effects eventually! Everyone experiences this stage differently.

It is of great significance to take nutrient-rich food, if your stomach can easily digest these, stay hydrated, start taking prenatal vitamins, and follow other possible steps to take good care of your body.

There is no need to intake extra calories at this time. Avoid chemicals, tobacco, and alcohol. You may require to take more sleep and rest, but along with this, you must do exercise regularly.

Your baby will experience a phenomenal quantity of change and growth during your first trimester of pregnancy. In just a few months, the single-cell zygote will be converted into a miniature person.

During the first trimester, your baby’s heartbeat starts, develops bones, hairs, nails, brains, limbs, and other internal body organs. The time duration of your first trimester would be 12 weeks in which all these changes and developments take place.
